| dc.description | Music can influence many facets of the personal and social life of young people, promoting the construction of common identities. In recent years, reggaeton has gone from being an expressive phenomenon of popular sectors to becoming a global sign of youth identity. Studies on reggaeton and youth have focused on investigating the supposed negative effects that listening to this type of music could have on the young population. But we also find proposals that highlight alternative readings to assess the gender issue in reggaeton. Our study resumes the analysis of the production of different focus groups with young people that have allowed us to explore the construction of gender relations among reggaeton consumers. We have identified three discursive repertoires that highlight the viral character of reggaeton, its educational capacity and the possibility that, paradoxically, it could become a feminist vehicle. | en-US |
| dc.description | La música puede influir en innumerables facetas de la vida personal y social de los jóvenes, favoreciendo la construcción de identificaciones. En los últimos años, el reggaetón ha pasado de ser un fenómeno expresivo de sectores populares a transformarse en seña global de identidad juvenil. Los estudios sobre reggaetón y juventud se han centrado en investigar los supuestos efectos negativos que el escuchar este tipo de música pudiera generar en la población joven. Pero, igualmente, encontramos propuestas que ponen de relieve lecturas alternativas para valorar la cuestión de género en el reggaetón. Nuestro estudio se centra en el análisis de la producción de distintos grupos focales con jóvenes que nos han permitido explorar la construcción de las relaciones de género en el reggaetón. Hemos identificado tres repertorios discursivos que resaltan el carácter viral del reggaetón, su capacidad educativa y la posibilidad de que, paradójicamente, se convierta en vehículo feminista. | es-ES |
