dc.description	I propose to introduce the debate on the role of information systems and population surveillance in a particular sector of social policy, that aimed at poor sectors, commonly known as socio-assistance policy. Specifically, I explore the surveillance practices associated the recent reorganization of the welfare policy promoted by the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) of Uruguay. The objective is to examine surveillance practices designed to systematically control, track, classify, check and observe populations. Two dimensions order the analysis of information systems for social protection: the process of State reform as one of the sociohistorical conditions that contributes to understanding the proliferation of these systems and their expected and collateral effects in the understanding that the latter have been turn invisible in the vernacular reflection on the subject.	en-US
dc.description	Propongo introducirnos en los debates sobre el papel de los sistemas de información y la vigilancia poblacional en un sector particular de la política social, aquella dirigida a los sectores pobres, conocida comúnmente como política asistencial o socioasistencial. Específicamente, exploro las prácticas de vigilancia asociadas a la reciente reorganización de la política socioasistencial promovida por el Ministerio de Desarrollo Social (MIDES) de Uruguay. El objetivo es examinar las prácticas de vigilancia destinadas a controlar, rastrear, clasificar, comprobar y observar sistemáticamente a las poblaciones. Dos dimensiones ordenan el análisis de los sistemas de información para la protección social: el proceso de reforma del Estado como una de las condiciones sociohistóricas que contribuye a comprender la proliferación de estos sistemas y sus efectos esperados y colaterales en el entendido de que éstos últimos han sido invisibilizados en la reflexión vernácula sobre el tema.	es-ES
