| dc.description | This article is a reflection on some of the functions that the emotions perform in constructing and maintaining the collective action of social movements in the long term. Based on a case study, we applied the conceptual instrument known as “Frame Analysis” to the successive discursive frames produced by the linguistic movement of the Basque Country between the 1980s and the first decade of 2000. With the aid of qualitative techniques, consisting in in-depth interviews conducted with qualified activists of the movement and an analysis of documents it produced, we identified the emotional contexts associated with the discourses and meanings generated by the movement at different times. Activation of the emotional components aided both the movement’s internal solidarity and external adhesion and, in short, favored the long-term sustainability of an increasingly institutionalized and professionalized movement. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo constituye una reflexión sobre algunas de las funciones que realizan las emociones en la construcción y mantenimiento en el largo tiempo de la acción colectiva de los movimientos sociales. Partiendo de un estudio de caso, hemos aplicado el instrumento conceptual conocido como “Frame Analysis” al estudio de los sucesivos marcos discursivos producidos por el movimiento lingüístico del País Vasco entre las décadas de los 80 y 2000. Con la ayuda de técnicas cualitativas, a través de entrevistas en profundidad realizadas a activistas cualificados del movimiento y el análisis de documentos producidos por aquél, hemos identificado los contextos emocionales asociados a los discursos y significaciones generados por el movimiento en diferentes momentos. La activación de los componentes emocionales ha facilitado tanto la solidaridad interna como la adhesión externa al movimiento y, en definitiva, ha favorecido la sostenibilidad en el largo plazo de un movimiento crecientemente institucionalizado y profesionalizado. | es-ES |
