dc.description	Tensions in the Brazilian countryside characterized the period before the military coup of 1964, with the intense participation of organized groups demanding land reform projects and access to rights. This research proposes an analysis of different forms of struggle put into practice in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Pernambuco between the late 1950s and early 1960s. In the first state, there were mobilizations legitimized by Leonel Brizola government initiatives (1959-1963). The Peasant Leagues emerged in the state of Pernambuco; this movement embodied the struggle for agrarian reform in the country at the time, settling space for the advancement of rural workers unionization, during Miguel Arraes government (1963-1964). Therefore, the thesis seeks to identify how these alternatives contributed to the consolidation of instruments that have remained source of strength even after the advance of repression imposed by the Brazilian military regime.	en-US
dc.description	O período que antecede o golpe militar de 1964 foi marcado por tensões no campo brasileiro, com intensa participação de grupos organizados demandando projetos de reforma agrária e acesso a direitos. Esta pesquisa propõe uma análise de diferentes formas de luta colocadas em prática nos estados do Rio Grande do Sul e de Pernambuco entre o final da década de 1950 e início de 1960. O primeiro foi palco de mobilizações legitimadas pelas inciativas do governo de Leonel Brizola (1959-1963). No segundo emergiram as Ligas Camponesas, movimento que corporificou a luta pela reforma agrária no país à época, sedimentando espaço para o avanço da sindicalização dos trabalhadores rurais, durante o governo de Miguel Arraes (1963-1964). Assim, a tese busca apontar como estas alternativas contribuíram para a consolidação de instrumentos que se mantiveram como fonte de resistência, mesmo depois do avanço da repressão imposta pelo regime militar brasileiro.	pt-BR
