dc.description	In this text I propose a systemic theory about the process through which societies become authoritarian. I postulate, at the micro or individual level, a triadic structure of tendencies towards others (trust, suspicion and hostility); and I link it, at the macro or social level, to a group of structural factors (inequity and distrust), triggers (social, economical or political crisis) and catalysts (presence of a caudillo with a populist discourse and authoritarian leaning). Finally, I present some guidelines for the empirical testing of this theory.	en-US
dc.description	En este texto propongo una teoría sistémica del proceso por el que las sociedades llegan al autoritarismo populista. Postulo, en el nivel individual o micro, una estructura triádica de disposiciones hacia el otro (confianza, suspicacia y hostilidad); y la vinculo, en el nivel social o macro, con un conjunto de factores estructurales (inequidad y desconfianza), sucesos precipitantes (crisis social, económica o política) y catalizadores (presencia de un líder caudillista de discurso populista e inclinación autoritaria). Finalmente, expongo algunos lineamientos para la puesta a prueba empírica de esta teoría.	es-ES
