dc.description	This text includes an abstract of my doctoral research on the construction of victimhood at the Ixhil area, a post conflict region in Guatemala. The method used to account this psychosocial process was ethnography, mainly focused on the population’s relief practices. Throughout 40 weeks, I observed, asked, and shared with the people their experiences during the war, as well as their future expectations. However, to consider themselves as victims is a complex issue to deal with, because it refers to a persuasive device to access for help and resources instead of being use as a descriptive or identifying category. Therefore, empirical evidence has found that the construction of victimhood in this region is related to some diseases currently suffered by the population; to the poverty in which they survive, and the vulnerability and exclusion subjected by the State. All of this turns more evident when people try to get aid from welfare programs, such as the Programa Nacional de Resarcimiento PNR (translated as the National Compensation Program) a place where their speeches of victims seem to be reproduced and reinforced.	en-US
dc.description	Este texto contiene un resumen de mi investigación doctoral sobre la construcción de la victimidad en una región posconflicto: el área Ixhil. El método empleado para dar cuenta de este proceso psicosocial fue la etnografía, enfocada principalmente desde las prácticas de alivio de la población. Durante 40 semanas observé, pregunté y pude compartir con las personas de esta zona indígena las experiencias durante el conflicto armado, así como sus expectativas a futuro. Sin embargo, el considerarse víctima es un tema complejo para la gente, porque refiere mucho más a un dispositivo persuasivo para acceder a ayuda y recursos, que a un epíteto descriptivo o identificatorio. Por ello la evidencia empírica ha dado cuenta que la construcción de la victimidad en esta región refiere a las enfermedades que padece la población al día de hoy, la pobreza en la que sobreviven, así como la vulnerabilidad y exclusión a la que son sometidos por parte del Estado. Esto es más evidente cuando las personas intentan acceder a programas asistenciales, por ejemplo, el Programa Nacional de Resarcimiento (PNR) en donde se potencian y reproducen discursos en torno a su condición de víctimas sobrevivientes.	es-ES
