Private television companies have taken control of the sports world, specially the main one: football. Since some seasons ago, GOL TV is the only free-to-air channel that broadcasts first division matches, even though any team that takes part in European competitions can’t participate in these games. The social mass of the clubs, the performance of the teams and the calendar variables show up as the main factors that determinate the audience of the matches. Through this references, the study was carried out to identify the main causes that make the viewers’ figures of the games broadcasted during the season 2017/2018.Las empresas privadas de televisión se han hecho con el dominio del mundo deportivo y, en especial, del deporte rey: el fútbol. Desde hace unas temporadas, el canal GOL TV es el único que emite en abierto partidos de primera división, aunque en éstos no participan equipos clasificados en competiciones europeas. La masa social de los clubes, el rendimiento de los equipos y las variables referentes al calendario se presentan como principales factores que determinan la audiencia de los encuentros. Mediante estas referencias, el estudio se ha llevado a cabo con la finalidad de dar respuesta a las principales causas que confeccionan el recuento de cifras de telespectadores de los partidos emitidos durante la temporada 2017/2018.
