| dc.description | Since ancient times, tuna-fishing is an important activity for the Mediterranean economy.Over the years, fishing methods have been gradually perfected and Sicily has became themain centre for the development of new techniquesbased on the tuna-fishing nets system.Great tuna migrations, mostly since the beginning of the modern era, put sailors, fishermen,experts, businessmen and capital into motion, relentlessly sailing through the waters of aursea and its coastline.A major role in this entire processi is played by Sardinia, a process thatsome refuse to call “industrial” because of the production types concerned there in.Therefore, it seems quite important to identify the emergence of the first tuna-fishing nets inthe Island along with their sudden development from an economic, social and culturalperspective. | en-US |
| dc.description | La pesca del tonno rappresenta sin dall’antichità un affare importante per l’economia delMediterraneo. Con l’andar del tempo le modalità di pesca vengono progressivamente affinate trovando in Sicilia il centro principale di irradiazione delle nuove tecniche basate sul sistema delle tonnare. Le grandi migrazioni di tonni, a partire soprattutto dalla prima età moderna, mettono così in movimento marinai, pescatori, maestranze specializzate, uomini d’affari e capitali che percorrono senza soste le acque del nostro mare e le sue coste. In questa vicenda, che per le dimensioni e per le tipologie produttive molti non esitano a definire “industriale”, un ruolo fondamentale ricopre la Sardegna. L’individuazione delle modalità di nascita delle prime tonnare nell’isola e del loro repentino sviluppo appare dunque di notevole importanza dal punto di vista economico ma anche sociale e culturale. | it-IT |
