| dc.description | This article has the objective of investigating how the territory of Barú has been populated, appropriated, transformed, reorganized and imagined by the enslaved and their free descendants, smugglers, colonial officials, landlords, caudillos and scientists, among many other groups and people who have humanized the landscape to inhabit it and make it productive, since these processes can contribute to understanding and explaining how the territory is built and the conflicts that exist due to its ownership and control.This work is organized in chronological order. First, the processes of the colonial period are described and analyzed, especially the way in which the territory was ordered and the attempts to control and govern the population, showing that the smuggling and the search for freedom on the part of the enslaved ones defied the established order and Made Cartagena society dynamic and heterogeneous. Second, the facts of the independence period of Cartagena are presented to show the active participation of the inhabitants of Barú and the alliances and confrontations that took place in rural areas. Finally, it describes the events of the second part of the nineteenth century and the way in which the Afro-descendant population of Barú organized and acquired autonomy as a community.In order to carry out this research the Historical Archive of Cartagena was consulted where several writings of Barú of the XIX century were found with important information, as well as the National Library where several historical studies realized in century XIX are found. In addition to the consultation of these documentary sources, a bibliographical review on the history of Cartagena was carried out and a field work was done in the island to know the oral and local history, through interviews and conversations with people recognized within the communities. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo tiene el objetivo de indagar cómo ha sido poblado, apropiado, transformado, reorganizado e imaginado el territorio de Barú por parte de los esclavizados y sus descendientes libres, los contrabandistas, los funcionarios coloniales, los hacendados, los caudillos y los científicos, entre muchas otros grupos y personas que han humanizado el paisaje para habitarlo y volverlo productivo, pues estos procesos pueden contribuir a entender y explicar cómo se construye el territorio y los conflictos que existen por su propiedad y control.Este trabajo está organizado siguiendo un orden cronológico. En primer lugar se describen y analizan los procesos del periodo colonial especialmente la manera como fue ordenado el territorio y los intentos por controlar y gobernar a la población, mostrando que el contrabando y la búsqueda de libertad por parte de los esclavizados desafió el orden establecido e hizo que la sociedad cartagenera fuera dinámica y heterogénea. En segundo lugar se presentan los hechos del periodo de la independencia de Cartagena para mostrar la activa participación de los pobladores de Barú y las alianzas y confrontaciones que se dieron en las zonas rurales. Por último, se describen los acontecimientos de la segunda parte del siglo XIX y la manera en que la población afrodescendiente de Barú se organizó y adquirió autonomía como comunidad.Para realizar esta investigación se consultó el Archivo Histórico de Cartagena en donde fueron encontradas varias escrituras de Barú del siglo XIX con importante información, así como la Biblioteca Nacional en donde se encuentran varios estudios históricos realizados en el siglo XIX. Además de la consulta de estas fuentes documentales se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre la historia de Cartagena y se hizo un trabajo de campo en la isla para conocer la historia oral y local, a través de entrevistas y conversaciones con personas reconocidas dentro de las comunidades. | es-ES |
