dc.description This paper deals with the intertextuality of certain objects among the Carib-speaking Yukpa and focuses especially on the Yukpa notion of ‘writings’ tumeno. Even if Yukpa baskets do not carry iconographic motifs the name for basket is “the one that possesses ‘writings’” and there is a basket called tumeno. The agency of the ‘writings’ is demonstrated by focusing on bags that carry the tumeno of the snake. It is argued that these ‘writings’ are not symbolic but iconic and indexical. As such they form part of inter-species semiosis and are used to communicate toward non-human others. en-US
dc.description Este trabajo se dedica a la intertextualidad de ciertos objetos entre los yukpa, un grupo indígena de habla Caribe, y se enfoca especialmente en su noción de ‘escritos’ tumeno. Aunque las cestas yukpa no llevan motivos iconográficos, el nombre de la cesta es “el que posee ‘escritos’” e incluso un tipo de cesta es llamado tumeno. La capacidad de actuar de estos escritos se demuestra centrándose en las bolsas que llevan el tumeno de la serpiente. Se argumenta que estos escritos no son símbolos, sino íconos e índices. Como tales, forman parte de la semiosis entre diferentes especies y son utilizados para comunicarse con los no-humanos. es-ES
dc.description Este trabalho dedica-se à intertextualidade de certos objetos entre os Yukpa, um grupo indígena de língua Caribe, e enfoca-se especialmente na sua noção de ‘escritos’ tumeno. Embora as cestas Yukpa não têm motivos iconográficos, o nome da cesta é “o que possui ‘escritos’”, e inclusível chama-se a um tipo de cesta de tumeno. A capacidade de agir destes escritos demostra-se focalizando nos sacos que têm o tumeno da cobra. Argumenta-se que estes escritos não são símbolos, mais sim íconos e índices. Como tais, fazem parte da semiosis entre diferentes espécies e são utilizados para comunicar com os não-humanos.  pt-BR
