| dc.description | This article explores the biodiversity issue as a hegemonic discourse that often does not correspond to the conservation of nature but is governed by the interests of different institutions that see new forms for the appropriation and commercialization of biological and genetic resources. Starting from a poststructuralist approach, it seeks to understand the role of biodiversity discourse in the capitalization of nature. The analysis focused on the case of Ecuador regarding biopiracy. In conclusion, despite having environmental legislation and being framed within international conventions on the access and distribution of the benefits of biodiversity and ancestral knowledge, the genetic resources end up being stolen by research centers in the global North. | en-US |
| dc.description | El presente artículo explora cómo el tema de la biodiversidad puede ser utilizado como un discurso hegemónico que muchas veces no corresponde con la conservación de la naturaleza, sino que se encuentra regido por intereses de diferentes instituciones que ven en ésta nuevas formas para la apropiación y comercialización de recursos biológicos y genéticos. Partiendo de un enfoque posestructuralista se busca entender el papel del lenguaje de la biodiversidad en la capitalización de la naturaleza. Para ello, se aborda el caso de Ecuador respecto a la biopiratería y se concluye que a pesar de contar con una legislación ambiental y estar ésta enmarcada dentro de convenios internacionales acerca del acceso y distribución de los beneficios de la biodiversidad y los conocimientos ancestrales, los recursos genéticos terminan siendo hurtados por centros de investigación del Norte global. | es-ES |
