| dc.description | We carried out this research in the city of Delicias, Chihuahua. The objective was to know the population's perception and knowledge about environmental problems, seeking to associate their responses with territorial marginalization levels. A proportional random sampling was carried out in the city, starting from the marginalization level according to Basic Geostatistical Areas (AGEB, by its initials in Spanish) of the National Population Council (CONAPO, by its initials in Spanish). A specially designed survey was applied directly to households. We used statistical analysis techniques for continuous and categorical data. The results show that the activity perceived as causing the most significant environmental damage is industry (80.20 %), followed by agriculture (13.80 %) and livestock (5.20 %). In contrast, as a problem that directly affects people, the industry ranked fifth. On the other hand, only 5.72 % of those interviewed indicated the absence of diseases, with diabetes appearing first, followed by hypertension and cancer. The marginal zone and the level of studies showed a strong association with the people's level of environmental perception, detecting that the greater the marginalization, the greater the lack of knowledge about environmental issues, and the greater willingness to participate in mitigation actions. | en-US |
| dc.description | La presente investigación se llevó a cabo en Delicias, Chihuahua. El objetivo fue conocer el nivel de percepción y conocimiento de la población acerca de los problemas ambientales, buscando asociar sus respuestas con los niveles de marginación territorial dentro de la ciudad. Se realizó un muestreo aleatorio proporcional, por grado de marginación de las Áreas Geoestadísticas Básicas (AGEB) de la ciudad, de acuerdo con la clasificación de CONAPO; aplicando una encuesta, diseñada ex profeso, directamente en los hogares. Se utilizaron técnicas de análisis estadístico para datos continuos y categóricos. Los resultados muestran que la actividad percibida como causante de mayor daño ambiental es la industria (80.20 %), seguida de la agricultura (13.80 %) y solamente con 5.20 % la ganadería. En contraste, como problema que afecta de manera personal directa, la industria obtuvo el quinto lugar. Por otro lado, únicamente el 5.72 % de los entrevistados indicó ausencia de enfermedades, apareciendo diabetes en primer lugar, seguida de hipertensión y de cáncer. La zona de marginación y el nivel de estudios mostraron una fuerte asociación con el nivel de percepción ambiental de las personas, detectándose que, a mayor marginación, mayor desconocimiento en materia ambiental, pero también mayor disposición a participar en acciones de mitigación. | es-ES |
