| dc.description | Por más de cincuenta años la ex fortaleza de San Carlos fungió como hogar para más de mil reclusos quienes, de acuerdo con los postulados legislativos de la época, debían ser readaptados y reincorporados a la sociedad como personas útiles para la misma. El Reclusorio Central del Estado de Veracruz abrió sus puertas en agosto de 1949 para cerrarlas en marzo del 2007. En este contexto, es posible reconocer cómo se vivió la readaptación social en una prisión contemporánea, por medio de datos generales más no superficiales. Este artículo une la cotidianidad al interior de la prisión con los discursos políticos que se dictaron sobre la institución que aquí interesa, así como con las notas periodísticas que fungieron como testigos de una realidad tras las rejas. Old Bricks, Misfortune and Insomnia: a Historical Perspective on the Central Prison of State of Veracruz, 1949-2007For more than fifty years the ex-fort of San Carlos was home to more than one thousand prisoners who, according to the legislative theories of the time, were to be reformed and reincorporated into public life as useful members of society. The Central Prison of the state of Veracruz first opened its doors in August 1949 and was closed in March 2007. In this context, it is possible to examine the process of social re-adaptation in a contemporary prison. By using general, but not superficial information, this article brings together accounts of daily life inside the prison, political discourses and as well as newspaper articles, all of which provide a testimony to the realities of life behind bars. | es-ES |
