| dc.description | Resumen:Dentro de la perspectiva de la geografía histórica y en su consideración como elementos indisociables de la realidad material humana, los caminos han cumplido una función esencial en los esquemas de integración y de articulación de los espacios geográficos del pasado. Frente a esta idea, es oportuno poner de relieve el peso documental de los mapas antiguos, en virtud de su contenido y de su constitución como una fuente de información geográfica de primera mano generada en términos de la abstracción de tales espacios. Sobre esta premisa, el presente artículo se propone elaborar una cartografía histórica del espacio geográfico de la alcaldía mayor de Cuernavaca y su red de caminos de fines del siglo XVI a través de una secuencia metodológica aplicada a mapas antiguos.Palabras Clave: Cartografía colonial, caminos novohispanos, espacio geográfico, Cuernavaca, cartografía histórica.Recepción: 21 de enero de 2021 Aceptación: 21 de abril de 2021 Abstract:Within the perspective of historical geography and its consideration of the inseparable elements of human material reality, roads have fulfilled an essential function in the integration and articulation schemes of geographical spaces in the past. Taking this idea into account, it is appropriate to stress the documentary importance of the ancient map, due to its content and its constitution as a source of first-hand geographic information generated in terms of the abstraction of such spaces. Based on this premise, this article develops a historical cartography of the geographic space of the alcaldía mayor de Cuernavaca and its road network from the end of the 16th century through the implementation of a methodological sequence applied to ancient maps.
