| dc.description | En este artículo se observa cómo, durante el siglo XVIII, los grandes empresarios mineros del real minero de Guanajuato vendieron y compraron esclavos o los emplearon fundamentalmente en el servicio doméstico, a pesar del decrecimiento paulatino en la cantidad de transacciones de este tipo anotadas en los registros notariales. Asimismo se constata la existencia en Guanajuato de otras personas que eran propietarios de esclavos pero no empresarios y que emplearon a sus esclavos en diversas actividades, lo cual les permitió vivir modestamente o bien resolver problemas cotidianos. Esto permite concluir a la autora que propietario de esclavo no necesariamente era sinónimo de empresario.Slave Owners in Guanajuato in the Eighteenth CenturyDuring the eighteenth century the great miners of Guanajuato bought and sold slaves usually for domestic service, although the author notes a slow decline in the number of such transactions registered in the notary records over the period. The author describes records confirming the existence of other people in the city who owned slaves but were not entrepreneurs and who employed their slaves in diverse activities that allowed the owners to live modestly or at least resolve their most pressing daily needs.
