This article aims to address, from the perspective of political ecology, the social movement No to Mining in Urrao (No a la minería en Urrao) and its configuration as a commitment to collective action in defense of the territory. The approach consists of a brief review of the theoretical contributions made by political ecology to the discussion about mining extractivism, and of a brief outline of the extractivism scenario in Latin America and Colombia. After that, the case of the No to mining in Urrao movement is presented and related to the classical theory of social movements and to the actual readings between internet and collective action.
El artículo tiene como objetivo abordar, desde la perspectiva de la ecología política, el movimiento social No a la Minería en Urrao y su configuración como una apuesta de acción colectiva en defensa del territorio. La propuesta de abordaje se realiza con un breve repaso por los aportes teóricos que vienen desde la ecología política en torno al extractivismo minero, tratando así de realizar un breve esbozo del escenario del extractivismo en América Latina y en Colombia; posteriormente expone el caso del movimiento No a la minería en Urrao y hace una relación de éste con la teoría clásica de los movimientos sociales en conjunto con las lecturas actuales entre internet y acción colectiva.
