| Descripción : | The objective in this paper is to underline how the modern principles of freedom and individuality are the basis of the metaphysics of work developed by Georg Simmel. The configuration of these principles, unrolled on the ideals of singularity and authenticity, determined an imposition to the modern individuals the self-experimentation and self- achievement, which brings paradoxical ontological consequences. With the help of Axel Honneth’s theory, is possible to understand how the promise of qualitative freedom is transformed in a kind of negative freedom that is fundamental to the subtle legitimation of contemporary capitalism. O objetivo deste texto é mostrar como os princípios modernos de liberdade e individualidade conformam a base de uma metafísica do trabalho realizada por Georg Simmel. A configuração de tais princípios, desdobrados nos ideais de singularidade e autenticidade, impõe aos indivíduos modernos um imperativo incontornável de auto-experimentação e auto- realização cujas conseqüências ontológicas são paradoxais. Com o auxílio de investigações recentes feitas por Axel Honneth, é possível compreender de que modo a promessa de liberdade qualitativa, neste contexto, se transforma em um tipo de liberdade negativa que acaba sendo fundamental para a sutil legitimação do capitalismo contemporâneo. |
