| Descripción : | El tema de esta investigación es la institucionalización de la estadística como ciencia en Colombia entre 1914 y 1940, tomando como caso de análisis el texto de Alejandro López (1876-1940) y Jorge Rodríguez (Ingeniero civil y pionero de la estadística nacional), Estadística de Antioquia, publicado en 1915, el cual ha sido señalado por la historiografía como el hecho científico que catapulta un nuevo entendimiento de la estadística en Colombia, al lograr por primer vez darle a ésta el carácter de una ciencia capaz de comprobar leyes universales. Se pretende analizar, con herramientas de la historia epistemológica, cuáles fueron las condiciones en que se erigió esta obra en un hecho científico, lo cual implica confrontar las nociones de ciencia y de científico (hombre de ciencia) que se usaron en ese momento, a la luz de nuestras nociones actuales, tanto como mostrar el rol jugado por la historiografía. Se pondrá en juego una idea del sociólogo de la ciencia, Bruno Latour, acerca de cómo puede hablarse de una simetría entre la construcción de la naturaleza y la construcción de la sociedad. The theme of this research is the institutionalization of statistics as a science in Colombia between 1914 and 1940, taking as a case of analysis the text of Alejandro López (1876-1940) and Jorge Rodríguez (Civil engineer and pioneer of national statistics), Statistics of Antioquia, published in 1915, which has been indicated by historiography as the scientific fact that catapults a new understanding of statistics in Colombia, by achieving for the first time to give it the character of a science capable of checking universal laws. It is tried to analyze, with tools of the epistemological history, which were the conditions in which this work was erected in a scientific fact, which implies to confront the notions of science and of scientist (man of science) that were used in that moment, to the light of our current notions, as well as showing the role played by historiography. An idea of the sociologist of science, Bruno Latour, will be put into play about how one can speak of a symmetry between the construction of nature and the construction of society.
