Descripción :	Since the resurgence of concern about the "trafficking in women for the purpose of sexual exploitation", at the end of the 20th century, prostitution has once again been at the center of public debate, being “women victims of trafficking" and "traffickers", the central figures of it. But gradually, the figure of the client has also begun to arouse interest, appearing in various discourses, through the category "prostituyente", as a particular type of person, who embodies a repudiable sexual identity. In this work I made an approach to the representations that are shaping this figure, and that oscillate between pathologization, criminalization and moral reprobation. I am interested in analyzing the process by which the men who pay for sex becomes a public concern. Desde el resurgimiento de la preocupación por la “trata de mujeres con fines de explotación sexual”, a fines del siglo XX, la prostitución ha vuelto a estar en el centro del debate público, siendo las mujeres “víctimas de trata” y los/as “tratantes”, las figuras centrales del mismo. Pero de a poco, la figura del cliente también ha comenzado a suscitar interés, presentándose en variados discursos, a través de la categoría “varón prostituyente”, como un tipo particular de persona, que encarna una identidad sexual repudiable. En este trabajo realizo un acercamiento a las representaciones que van moldeando dicha figura, y que oscilan entre la patologización, la criminalización y la reprobación moral. Me interesa analizar el proceso mediante el cual la práctica de pagar por sexo –y más específicamente los varones que pagan por sexo- se convierte en un problema público y los motivos por los cuales se vuelve, para algunxs, ininteligible.
