| dc.description | La defensa del territorio de la Nueva España durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII fue una constante preocupación para las clases políticas metropolitanas. Esta inquietud estaba bastante bien justificada si tomamos en cuenta que el virreinato novohispano fue la mayor posesión imperial de España, puesto que de los metales que de aquí se exportaban dependía en gran medida el sostenimiento de muchas regiones del imperio (sobre todo El gran Caribe) y el aparato gubernamental ibérico en general. En el presente trabajo, más que presentar un desarrollo histórico de la institución militar conocida como milicias en la Nueva España, pretendemos plantear algunas ideas que nos permitan entender la relación entre estos cuerpos militares y la sociedad novohispana dentro del marco de la Inflexión decolonial. Para esto pretendemos analizar cuál fue el papel de un grupo social específico en el sistema de defensa novohispano de la Costa del Golfo; la población negra. | es-ES |
| dc.description | The defence of New Spain’s territory during the second half of the XVIII century was a continuing problem for the metropolitan political hierarchies. This concern was strongly justified if we take into account that the land of the New Spain was the most important imperial colony of Spain, because the survival of many regions of the empire (mainly the Great Caribbean) depended of the metals that were being exported form the New Spain to a large degree. In this article, more than explain a historical development of the military institution known as milicias in New Spain, we want to plan some ideas that will allow us to understand the relationship between this military units and the society of the colonial Mexico in the context of the decolonial inflection. For this we will analyze what was a role of a specific social group whitin the defense system in the Gulf coast of Mexico: the black population. | en-US |
