Descripción : | There is nowadays in Italy a renewed interest in both artistic and cultural goods. This term refers to the complex heritage of folkloric goods, objects or not, which is an evidence of the varied popular, rural, alpine and seafaring Italian traditions. Instruments and products of minor arts, artistic and refined craftsmanship, also intended for the production of manufactured objects of daily use, utensils, rural work and fishing techniques, signs and symbols of popular devotion all undergo scientific reflection, salvage and bringing out activities in museums and exhibitions through interactive and multimedia tools. Giving a merely expository function to this kind of goods is nevertheless impossible. As a matter of fact they also are a link with the past and with a present which still has more or less outstanding marks of a traditional cultural universe. In this way they can become a tool to better interpret the dynamics of change, the causes of friction and crisis in the light of the cultural "faults" of the typical social context that has to be analysed. In a research commissioned by the European Community, we have reused a patrimony of data and knowledge on work techniques, instruments and economic management of traditional fishing in the Mediterranean Sea. The goal of the above-mentioned research was to find out the reasons of an economic and "cultural" crisis in Spanish, French and Italian fisheries. Folkloric data made possible to understand the modalities through which a productive universe depending upon values, hierarchies and old, sometimes archaic customary laws can not unaffectedly accept legislative interventions imposed from the outside and the above and which weaken not only the productivity of the fishery business but also a consolidated conception of world and life. |
