Descripción :	El ensayo constituye una reflexión acerca del origen y evolución de la rumba como uno de los géneros músico danzarios más representativos del patrimonio cultural cubano y la manera en que este ha influido en el desarrollo de la música y el baile popular cubano a través de todas las épocas, desde su creación en el siglo XIX hasta la actualidad. Se realiza una caracterización de los estilos fundamentales que se conservan vigentes o no en nuestro país: el Yambú, el Guaguancó, la Columbia, las Rumbas miméticas y la Rumba teatral. The essay constitutes a reflection on the origin and evolution of rumba as one of the most representative music dance genres of Cuban cultural heritage and the way in which it has influenced the development of Cuban popular music and dance through all the times, from its creation in the 19th century to the present day. A characterization of the fundamental styles that remain in force or not in our country is carried out: the Yambú, the Guaguancó, the Columbia, the mimetic Rumbas and the theatrical Rumba.
