| Descripción : | The objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between language and power in the novel Americanah (2013), by the Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie, especially in its constitution as individual valuing in African space. Therefore, our work is limited to analyze the passages of the work that are set in Nigeria, analyzing how the language is itself a space of conflict, oppression, and resistance, which reveals tensions, asymmetric socio-cultural relations among the characters. From this, we will discuss how the language in the work can be characterized as a third space, which enables the negotiation of differences and the mediation of these conflicts. O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a relação entre língua e poder no romance Americanah (2013), da escritora nigeriana Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, especialmente em sua constituição como valorização individual no espaço africano. Portanto, nosso trabalho se delimita a analisar passagens da obra ambientadas na Nigéria, analisando como a língua é, por si só, um espaço de conflito, de opressão e de resistência, que revela tensões, relações assimétricas socioculturais entre as personagens. A partir disso, iremos discutir de que modo a linguagem na obra pode ser caracterizada como um terceiro espaço, que possibilita a negociação das diferenças e a mediação desses conflitos. |
