| dc.description | The memories from the dictatorship have been widened and got space throughout the last decades, highlighting several ranges which have been affected by such event and its effects either inside public or private scopes. From such perspective, the present work aims to discuss the representation of the military dictatorship on Tropical sol da liberdade, by Ana Maria Machado, published in 1988. The main objective is to analyze how this event was inserted in the characters’ family life. The clampdown, the violence, and the exile lived by the main character are remembered in the light of a conflicted relationship between mother and daughter, the main characters in this novel, depicting a female point of view concerning the dictatorship, mainly considering the mother figure. In this sense, memory becomes a linchpin to this representation and the country’s historical past reordering intertwines with the reconstruction of the family’s memories. This process shows the dictatorship’s influence on the private universe of those characters, defining their paths. Throughout this process, the writing comes up as a strategy chosen by the protagonist to disclose her experience and recreate the pain she and many others suffered in the past. | en-US |
| dc.description | As memórias da ditadura têm-se expandido e ganhado voz ao longo das últimas décadas, colocando em evidência os diversos âmbitos atingidos por tal episódio e suas decorrências no interior tanto das esferas públicas como também das privadas. Sob essa perspectiva, o presente artigo tem por objetivo discutir a representação do regime militar em Tropical sol da liberdade, de Ana Maria Machado, publicado em 1988, observando o modo como esse evento histórico aparece inserido no interior da vida familiar das personagens. A repressão, a violência e o exílio vividos pela protagonista são rememorados à luz da relação desconcertada que existe entre mãe e filha, as duas mulheres centrais da narrativa, configurando um olhar feminino sobre a ditadura com destaque para a figura materna. A memória torna-se peça chave para a representação e, nesse sentido, a reordenação do passado histórico do país se entrelaça à reconstrução das lembranças familiares, mostrando a influência desse evento no universo íntimo das personagens, determinando seus caminhos. Ao longo desse processo, a escrita surge como estratégia eleita pela protagonista para mostrar essa experiência e dar vazão à reelaboração de toda a dor vivenciada por ela e por tantos outros. | pt-BR |
