dc.descriptionThe literature produced by German writers, who were forced to leave the country between 1933 and 1945, makes up the rich and heterogeneous set of works named Exilliteratur. From various strands and styles, these writers – that could hardly be regarded as belonging to a cohesive movement – faced the difficulties of exile, nevertheless went on writing and publishing their works, which often showed a clear opposition to fascism. This is the case of most texts published by Anna Seghers; assiduous collaborator of journals and associations, the writer put her efforts on the articulation of an intellectual resistance movement against Nazism. She has among her wide bibliography as one of its main titles Transit Visa [Transit]. The novel, which depicts the obstacles of European emigration from the French city of Marseille, reports the conditions in which thousands of Europeans found themselves in 1941. This fictional text is grounded on solid historical and spatial references, and the subjectivity of the narrator, as well as other characters, corroborate the likelihood of the plot, making the work be commonly associated with the critique of the historical fact of the German invasion of France and the massive migration that followed. The purpose of this article is to point out the elements that constitute the realism of the novel, contextualizing it and approaching it, though notably fictional, to testimonial accounts that were multiplied among the publications of Exile Literature.en-US
dc.descriptionA literatura produzida pelos escritores alemães forçados a deixar o país entre 1933 e 1945 compõe o rico e heterogêneo conjunto de obras da Exilliteratur. De vertentes e estilos variados, esses escritores, que dificilmente poderiam ser considerados como pertencentes a um movimento coeso, enfrentaram as dificuldades do exílio ao escrever e publicar suas obras que, frequentemente, revelavam uma clara oposição ao fascismo. É o caso das publicações assinadas por Anna Seghers; a autora, assídua colaboradora de periódicos e associações que buscavam articular um movimento de resistência intelectual ao nazismo, tem em sua extensa bibliografia como um de seus principais títulos Transit [Em trânsito]. O romance, que retrata os entraves da emigração europeia a partir da cidade francesa de Marselha, relata de modo contundente a condição na qual milhares de europeus se encontravam em 1941. Ficção ancorada em sólidas referências históricas e espaciais, a subjetividade do narrador-protagonista e das demais personagens corrobora a verossimilhança do enredo, fazendo com que a obra seja comumente associada pela crítica ao fato histórico da invasão alemã à França e à massiva migração que a seguiu. O objetivo deste artigo é apontar para os elementos que constituem o realismo do romance, contextualizando-o e aproximando-o, embora notadamente ficcional, dos relatos testemunhais que se multiplicaram dentre as publicações da Literatura de Exílio.pt-BR
