Descripción :	The values of Prevalence and incidence of aphasia, and its consequences for the aphasic patient in the social and familiar space, show the significance of this entity in terms of public health. Around the world, the contemporary tendencies of cognitive neuropsychology and neurolinguistic are very effective for to diagnose and to treat the aphasia. Bedside, in Cuba, is other reality. In the country are present points of view and scientific perspectives that disturb the professional work with aphasic patient, and frustrate the development of new scientific positions. These are a reaction to the influence of social, political, and cultural conditions. This paper was writing with the purpose to describe the most important social contradictions that support the scientific points of view about the problem of assessment and rehabilitation of aphasic patient in Cuba. As well as, to analyze the scientific and methodological contradictions about aphasia; and to identify any solutions for the problem of aphasia and scientific, social and methodological contradiction, offer from neurolinguistic research. Los valores de incidencia y prevalencia de la afasia y las graves consecuencias que reviste para el paciente a nivel social y familiar, revelan su importancia en términos de salud. Internacionalmente, las tendencias contemporáneas de la neurolingüística son muy efectivas en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de las afasias. Sin embargo, en Cuba se es heredero de perspectivas científicas que limitan el desarrollo de la afasiología. Ello responde a la influencia de condiciones sociales, políticas y culturales. En el presente artículo se describen las principales contradicciones sociales que condicionan las tendencias científicas en el diagnóstico y la rehabilitación del paciente afásico en Cuba y se expresan algunas soluciones locales que desde la investigación neurolingüística han estado dando al traste de estas contradicciones.
