| dc.description | Specifically, in the context of developmental psychology, the body occupies a central place in explanations of cognitive structuring. In Piaget’s theory, sensorimotor accomplishments in childhood constitute the cornerstone of more complex forms of cognition such as representation or abstract thinking. After a critical examination of some of the assumptions that link body and cognition, which lead to a misunderstanding of this relationship, we advocate for a phenomenological approach of the body that lets us rethink the connection with cognition, including central aspects of contemporary discussions concerning the nature of conscious experience. | en-US |

En la obra de Piaget los logros del estadio sensoriomotor constituyen la piedra angular de las formas más complejas de la cognición, tales como la representación o el pensamiento abstracto. Luego de realizar un examen crítico de las suposiciones que en las teorías del desarrollo psicológico vinculan el cuerpo y la cognición, abogamos por un enfoque fenomenológico del cuerpo que nos permite reformular su relación con la cognición, incluyendo así, aspectos centrales de las discusiones contemporáneas acerca de la naturaleza de la experiencia consciente. | es-ES |
