dc.descriptionIn 1976 the Regional Museum of Oaxaca (Mexico) received the donation of a collection of musical instruments belonging to the ethnomusicologist Samuel Martí (1906-1975) that was exhibited for a short time. A research and curatorial project has recently made it possible to exhibit these instruments again with the goal of exploring the motivations that gave rise to the collection and the close relationship it bears with the different facets of the collector’s life. This renowned Mexican-American researcher was a musician, ethnomusicologist, archaeomusicologist, and cultural advocate. Some of the instruments appeared in several of Martí’s publications, but without, any detailed documentation. This article approaches the Martí collection from an historiographic and museographic perspective, and explores why Martí selected the specimens he did.en-US
dc.descriptionEn 1976 el Museo Regional de Oaxaca (México) recibió en calidad de donación la colección de instrumentos musicales del etnomusicólogo Samuel Martí (1906-1975), misma que fue exhibida por poco tiempo. En años recientes un proyecto de investigación y curaduría en torno a dicha colección ha permitido exponer nuevamente estos instrumentos con el propósito de mostrar las motivaciones que dieron origen a la colección y la estrecha relación con las diferentes facetas del connotado investigador mexicano-estadounidense: músico, etnomusicólogo, arqueomusicólogo y promotor cultural. Algunos instrumentos de la colección aparecieron en varias publicaciones del propio Martí; sin embargo, no existía una documentación detallada. Este trabajo aborda desde una perspectiva historiográfica y museográfica la colección Martí, para entender las motivaciones que llevaron a este investigador a elegir tales ejemplares para su acervo personal.es-ES
