Descripción :	The objective of this article is to make an exploratory study of the empirical investigations carried out to date on political prison in Chile. These studies are referred entirely to the period of the dictatorship, that is, the period between 1973 and 1990. To do this, a search was made in various databases and / or bibliographic reference systems, selecting only empirical studies on the subject. From the results obtained, a cadaster of them was carried out, establishing three thematic areas in which the investigations are concentrated. A brief review of them is made, and the issues that are considered relevant in this review of specialized literature are expressed. JEL CODE: E61, E65 RESUMENEl presente artí­culo tiene por objetivo hacer un estudio exploratorio de las investigaciones empí­ricas efectuadas a la fecha sobre prisión polí­tica en Chile. Dichos estudios están referidos en su totalidad al perí­odo de la dictadura, esto es, el periodo comprendido entre 1973 y 1990. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda en diversas bases de datos y/o sistemas de referencia bibliográfica seleccionando solo estudios empí­ricos sobre la materia. De los resultados arrojados, se realizó un catastro de ellos, estableciendo tres áreas temáticas en las que dichas investigaciones se concentran. Se realiza una breve recensión de ellos, y se expresan las cuestiones que se considera relevante de esta revisión de literatura especializada.
