dc.descriptionIn times of political instability, the group that holds power must modify, reinvent or create different strategies that allow it to maintain supremacy and legitimacy vis-à-vis other segments with which it establishes power relations. In this way, I intend to analyze some examples of dance embodied in the monuments of Yaxuun Bahlam IV of Yaxchilan, who acceded to power after a period of political instability known as ‘interregnum’ (742-752 AD). The purpose is to show how this activity was used by the ruler as a strategy to legitimize his government and establish alliances and political negotiations with other members of the elite.en-US
dc.descriptionEn épocas de inestabilidad política, el grupo que detenta el poder dentro de una entidad debe modificar, reinventar o crear diferentes estrategias que le permitan mantener supremacía y legitimación ante los ojos de otros segmentos con los que establece las relaciones de poder. En el presente artículo pretendo analizar algunos ejemplos de danza plasmados en los monumentos de Yaxuun Bahlam IV de Yaxchilán, quien accedió al poder después de un periodo de gran inestabilidad política conocido como ‘interregno’ (742-752 d.C.). La finalidad es mostrar cómo esta actividad fue utilizada por el gobernante como estrategia para legitimarse en el trono y establecer alianzas y negociaciones políticas con otros integrantes de la élite.es-ES
