dc.descriptionThe aim of the current research work is the analysis of two fragments of stage plays from the 17th and 18th centuries, written in nauatl. The main issue of both is the Passion of Christ. Both manuscripts had been kept in the public prosecutor’s office archive of Santa María Atlihuetzia, Tlaxcala, México. The subject of the Passion of Christ was very common in Tlaxcala. At present we can allude, at least, to three preserved stage plays: The two fragments mentioned above, and another fragment of the 16th century that came from the adjacent village of San Simón Tlatlauhquitepec. Through the use of plays like these, the friars tried to consolidate the Christian Faith among the Tlaxcala naua peoples.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente estudio tiene como finalidad analizar dos fragmentos de los siglos XVII y XVIII de obras de teatro escritas en lengua nauatl, cuya temática es la Pasión de Cristo. Ambos manuscritos provienen del Archivo de la Fiscalía de Santa María Atlihuetzia, Tlaxcala, México. La temática acerca de la Pasión de Cristo, pareció ser en Tlaxcala conocido, ya que hasta ahora suman tres obras de teatro; estos dos fragmentos y uno más del siglo xvi que se encuentra en el pueblo vecino de San Simón Tlatlauhquitepec. Mediante el uso de representaciones teatrales, los religiosos pretendieron que el conocimiento de la fe en Cristo penetrara en las conciencias de los pueblos nauas de Tlaxcala.es-ES
