dc.descriptionA partir del estudio comparativo de los movimientos indígenas colombiano y ecuatoriano contemporáneos, este artículo analiza la relación entre etnicidad y democracia. Se plantea que el discurso de la etnicidad es fundamentalmente un discurso ético, que erupciona en los campos social, político y económico para redefinir la democracia en torno al proyecto multicultural del Estado. Empero destaca que su institucionalización amenaza con incrementar el centralismo y la burocracia de las organizaciones indígenas, y la línea de fractura que separa históricamente las organizaciones andinas, orientadas hacia la lucha de clases, y las amazónicas, más orientadas hacia la defensa de la identidad cultural.es-ES
dc.descriptionOn base of the comparative study of indigenous movements in Colombia and Ecuador, this article analyzes the relationship between ethnicity and democracy. We assume that the discourse of ethnicity is basically an ethic discourse that irrupts into the social, the economical and the political fields in order to redefine democracy from the perspective of a multicultural state project. Nevertheless, we advert that the institutionalization of ethnicity in Ecuador and Colombia is threatened by the raising centralism and burocratism of indigenous organizations, as well as by the fraction line that traditionally separates the Andean organizations, with their class struggle orientations, and the Amazonian organizations, more interested in the cultural identity defense.en-US
