Argentina y Brasil: economía y política exterior bajo regímenes dictatoriales, 1976-1983

Abstract

El artículo analiza las relaciones argentino-brasileñas en el período 1976-1983, coincidente con regímenes dictatoriales. Plantea la evolución macroeconómica de los dos países, dado que las mismas se proyectaron sobre sus respectivas políticas exteriores que, a su vez, deben asociarse al contexto de la Guerra Fría y al papel que ejercieron los Estados Unidos en el continente En este contexto, los dos gobiernos mantuvieron relaciones ambiguas dado que, por un lado, rivalizaron en el ámbito regional y, por otra parte, mantuvieron el histórico intercambio comercial propio de la vecindad geográfica, incluyendo varios acuerdos de cooperación, que finalmente se concretaron en el Mercado Común del Sur. The article analyzes the Argentina-Brazil relations during the 1976-1983 period when dictatorial regimes ruled both countries. It explains their macroeconomic evolution, and the influence on their respective external policies; at the same time, these have to be associated with the Cold War context and the role played by the United States of America on the continent. Thus, both governments kept ambiguous relations. On one hand, they held controversial positions in the region; on the other hand, they kept their historical commercial interchange, including several cooperation agreements which finally resulted in birth to the Mercardo Común del Sur.
