Descripción :	The objective of this paper is analyze the consequences to considered the process of patrimonialization of tangible goods like the process of symbolic identification and the creation of identity or like a process of profitability of these goods, under the thematic of the attraction of tourists. This dilemma appeared in the villagers in the city of Zacatecas-Guadalupe about their historic center, declared cultural heritage o f humanity in 1993 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Semi structured depth interviews were apply to the villagers of the city Zacatecas -Guadalupe about the importance of their historic center. in this paper does not have the arguments to determine whether the touristic project has generated the enough economic resources to protect the buildings, however, if so, the investment of economic resources in the protection of built heritage and the strategies to conservation, are being directed to keep the untouchables buildings, distancing them to the local people and saving them for the enjoyment and esthetics appreciation of the visitors and tourists. This situation has generated th at the value of heritage buildings, it’s in second term for the people from Zacatecas; the main value that the local people have found is the economic. The results of the research refer that residents of this city considered that the cultural heritage is away to attract tourists, more than a manifestation of their identity and symbolic representation. However, is not a linear process and complete, in other way, the research identified a graduation where a proportion, almost inexistent residents, considered that the cultural heritage is a process of symbolic representation and creating identity; being a majority who identify it like a center of attraction of tourists, who are seen as generators of economic wealth. El objetivo del presente es analizar las consecuencias de considerar el proceso de Patrimonialización de bienes tangibles como un proceso de identificación simbólica y creación de identidad y/o como un proceso de rentabilización de dichos bienes bajo la temática de la atracción de turistas. Esta disyuntiva se manifestó en los pobladores residentes de la ciudad de Zacatecas - Guadalupe sobre su Centro Histórico declarado Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad en 1993 por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO). Bajo la aplicación de entrevistas semiestructuradas a profundidad se les preguntó a los pobladores de la ciudad Zacatecas - Guadalupe la importancia del Centro Histórico. En este trabajo no se tienen los argumentos para establecer si el proyecto turístico ha logrado generar los recursos económicos necesarios para la protección y conservación de los inmuebles, sin embargo, de ser así, los recursos económicos invertidos en la protección del patrimonio edificado y las estrategias de conservación, están siendo dirigidas a mantener los inmuebles museificados, alejándolos de las personas locales y resguardándolos para el disfrute y la apreciación estética de los visitantes y turistas. Lo que ha generado es que ha quedado en segundo término en los zacatecanos el valor simbólico de los inmuebles patrimoniales; el principal valor que se encuentra en el patrimonio es el económico. Los resultados de la investigación aluden a que los residentes de dicha ciudad consideraron al patrimonio cultural más como una forma de atraer turistas que como la manifestación de su construcción identitaria y representación simbólica. No obstante, no es un proceso lineal y completo, por el contrario se identificó una graduación donde existe una proporción casi inexistente de residentes que el patrimonio cultural lo consideraron como un proceso de representación simbólica y creación de identidad; siendo una mayoría aplastante quienes lo identifican como un polo de atracción de turistas, quienes se ven como generadores de riqueza económica.
